THE MOUNTAIN
Meet the Team
Bill Kearney
-
Bill is an avid outdoor enthusiast and is intimately familiar with Mountain resources after working in the Upper Valley as an educator at The Oliverian School, the founding manager of the Innstead Mountain Getaway, and most recently as Vocational Program Director for the Trade. In fact, he and his wife spent their first night in the Upper Valley stowed away in the Mountain summit’s primitive Shire Cabin back in July of 2013 and have yet to leave.
Prior to his work in the Upper Valley, Bill left behind a career with a Boston-based finance firm to pursue his MA in Latin American Literature at the University of Massachusetts, a decision that would send him traveling extensively throughout Europe and Latin America and teaching in a wide variety of settings along the way. Both a lifelong student and an experienced educator, he has spent 14 years in classroom settings ranging from traditional and alternative boarding schools to domestic and international universities. Bill is in constant pursuit of his next book and of his next outdoor adventure, and lives to share these adventures with his wife, Siobhan, and their three girls.
Andrew Westerman
-
He has a bachelor’s degree in forestry and an associates degree in arboriculture from Paul Smith’s College. He has worked for a forestry and natural resource consulting company in Vermont where he carried out various land management projects, such as riparian tree planting, invasive plant control, timber stand improvement, and timber sale administration. He has also worked for a few tree services and has become experienced in pruning and removing landscape trees. Andrew’s role on The Mountain involves everything from landscape-wide objectives like forest management planning to more specific tasks like apple tree pruning and processing firewood. He has enjoyed sharing his knowledge of trees with others as camp counselor and mentor for The Trade program.
When not doing forestry work, Andrew enjoys working on his home in Pike, fishing, hunting, and trapping.
